Why it is highly unlikely the Syrian regime was behind the Houla massacre

I am not saying any group is immune from committing war crimes or terrorism in times of war, and I am fully aware of the Syrian regime’s repressive tactics, but even the most horrific acts of violence are driven by a certain “logic” which strives to achieve concrete objectives. There has to be a motive and set of interests that are served by the heinous act in question, especially when it is conducted in such an orderly and methodical fashion.

Forget the fact that the massacres occurred in an area which , according to Ban Ki Moon’s letter to the UNSC president, was “outside of the government control”, and that some of the victims had died of “shotgun wounds” indicating they were shot a point blank range, and “severe physical abuse” [apparently a euphemism for beheading] neither of which are the exclusive preserve of a conventional armed force.

Forget also that artillery fire—another cause of the deaths— is also available to the opposition.

Forget the BBC’s fabrication of evidence about this massacre and all the implications for mainstream reporting on Syria that carries.

Forget that Israel, who is notorious for cold-blooded massacres of children, immediately laid the blame for the killings on Hizbullah and Iran, prompting the usually reticent Netanyahu (to date he has said very little on Syria to avoid harming the opposition) to advance such an accusation.

Forget how the massacre is now being used by Washington to arm-twist Russia to accept a “Yemen-style solution”, as suggested by The Guardian: “ the breakdown of the already fragile Syrian peace process amid horrific scenes could push Moscow towards using its influence in the strife-torn country to assist a transition of power.”

Forget that  the same UN body that is now accusing the Syrian regime of this crime, accuses Hizbullah of killing Hariri, based on non-existent evidence.
Forget that  the same UN body that is now accusing the Syrian regime of this crime, will soon have Jeffrey Feltman—one of the most exposed US diplomats according to numerous Wikileaks documents, and one of Washington’s most outspoken enemies of Assad-Hizbullah-Iran—as its Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs

Forget that this sectarian massacre comes right at the heels of the FSA’s clearly sectarian- motivated abduction of Lebanese Shi’te pilgrims, whose whereabouts are still unknown.

Forget all that.

What on earth could the Syrian regime have stood to benefit from this macabre massacre of Sunnis? What could its “logic” or motives possibly have been? How could the regime have ensured or at least contributed to its longevity by this act?  What interests could this heinous act have served other than militarizing the existing UN presence; inviting foreign military intervention into Syria; increasing calls among NATO countries for establishing “humanitarian corridors”; turning Sunnis (given the identity of those massacred) against Alawites; and further tarnishing the regime’s already badly beaten public image?

  1. Some very important points must be presented also:
1- The people how killed in the massacre are not just Sunni the majority of the killed people are Shei an Alawit

2- 250 children was missed from Homs in the last 2 month no body knows anything about them some sources refer that the children used in the massacre

3- This type of massacres remind me with massacres committed by radical Islamist in Algeria same tactics used when hundreds of terrorists attack villages and slaughterd civilians same crimes committed by Kosovo Liberation Army in Yugoslavia

3- A huge contradiction in testimonies regarding the massacre presented by media some said the civilians killed by artillery bombing some said by bullets

4- The statement project that presented by France and adopted by NATO's in UNSC talk about bombing whereas Gen Mood talked about killing from close point

5- It is worth to mention that each time UNSC held a session to discuss the situation in Syria a massacre committed before hours and Syrian Gov. accused it is sure not a coincidence (Baba Amr , Karm Al Zaiton, and Alhoula)

  3. [1] The point of the article is that we must ask, “Cui bono?” “Who benefits?”

Unfortunately the masses don’t want to ask this. The average person finds it more fun to believe media lies, and to self-righteously condemn Syria’s government. I see this sickness even in “progressive” and “anti-war” bloggers.

[2] Reader Mohammed Ahmad says most of the victims were Shi’ite and Alawite. I don’t know if that’s true, but it makes sense, because Houla itself is Sunni. The massacre happened in one of the Alawite and Christian villages that surround Houla. Naturally the corporate media conceals this. When the Western media heard about this massacre by terrorists, the media twisted it around, and blamed it on the Syrian government. And the world’s masses stupidly believe it.

[3] Regarding children missing from Homs, they are probably living with their parents in Damascus, which now has 400,000 refugees from Homs. They fled the Western-backed terrorists.

[4] Reader Mohammed Ahmad says there is a discrepancy in the media lies. Some reports say the victims were killed by bullets, and other reports say people were killed by heavy artillery. In reality, most of the victims were executed by knife, or by shots to the head. The corporate media claims (with no proof) that “pro-government militias” did this.

The UN press statement itself (it was NOT a resolution, or even a presidential statement) does not assign blame. Nonetheless, it condemns Syria’s government.

The Western / Israeli / GCC Arab Axis will not stop until they get regime change in Syria. They want Syria destroyed, like Libya.

Then it will be on to Iran.

  4. I think it was the Zionists Nato's right arm; Blackwater's; "Al-Qaeda" division. Don't you think it's a bit odd? Whenever Zionist Nato decide they want another country's resources that country suffers civil unrest, followed by "Terrorists" causing trouble and shooting people. The news reports: " Al-Qaeda" seen in the area!.....

  5. excellent analysis...here's what i wrote couple of days ago...
"They Tried the Egyptian-Tunisian scenario....didn't work
    They tried the Libyan one....Failed
    they tried the Yemeni way...Zero...
now they're trying a mix between "Hariri Assassination (accusation of Syrian regime without any evidence)/ Serbian armed group (and blame it on the regime)"....if they fail "seem so" i advise them to switch to another country...it's cheaper, faster and money back guaranteed...or maybe the world's leaders can gather in baba Amr and protest against the Syrian regime... ;-)"
